Teen Injured In Viral Stray Cow Attack; Akhilesh Yadav Urges Voters To Remember In Next Election

Political temperatures in Uttar Pradesh are already rising despite the 2027 Assembly elections being some distance away.

The ruling party and the opposition have begun sharpening their attacks, with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticising the Yogi Adityanath government after sharing a disturbing video from Lucknow that shows a teenage girl being attacked by a stray cow. Alongside his criticism, he appealed to the public to support the SP in the upcoming polls.

Posting the clip on X, Akhilesh Yadav wrote, "In the next election, the public will cure both the bull and the bulldozer. If these BJP rulers ever step out on the road without their security and walk on foot, this very bull will toss them into the air. The slogan of solving the problem in 14 days will not be fulfilled even in 14 years. BJP leaders are super stockists of lies. Lies are the foundation of BJP's politics. All those who fulfilled their civic duty and saved the girl deserve appreciation."

He alleged that the BJP has failed to address long-standing civic problems and accused the party of building its politics on false promises.

Terrifying Attack on Teen Caught on Camera

The incident occurred in Lucknow's Chowk area in Chaupatiya, where a stray cow chased and attacked a 14-year-old girl, Riddhima alias Chinki, nearly crushing her under its hooves. CCTV footage shows the animal knocking her down and repeatedly trampling her as she screamed for help.

Local residents rushed to the scene and tried to drive the cow away by throwing stones, but the animal refused to budge. After a struggle, they managed to pull the girl to safety. Moments later, the cow attempted another charge, forcing the injured teenager to hide behind a parked car. Their swift action prevented what could have been a major tragedy.

Father Raises Questions Over Civic Negligence

Shailendra Malhotra, the girl's father, said the neighbourhood has long struggled with stray animals. "Whenever we step outside, we see cows, bulls and dogs roaming freely. Complaints have been made several times, but no concrete action was taken. Today my daughter narrowly survived. What is the guarantee that this will not happen to someone else tomorrow?" he asked while demanding strict measures from the municipal corporation.

Residents echoed similar concerns, noting that animal waste litters the streets and movement has become increasingly difficult. Many believe the shocking episode should serve as a wake-up call for authorities.

Illegal Cattle Shed Unearthed, Action Initiated

Dr Abhinav Verma, the municipal corporation's animal welfare officer, identified the attacking cow as belonging to Chaupatiya resident Munna Ghosi, who had allegedly set up an illegal cattle shed near a dumping ground. A complaint has been filed to register an FIR against the owner.

After the CCTV footage went viral, municipal teams launched a search operation and later found the cow tied at Ghosi's residence. The animal was seized, along with several others roaming the streets, and officials said the illegal shed would soon be removed as part of stricter enforcement against abandoned livestock.
