Spa Employee Allegedly Gang-Raped By Six Men In Kerala’s Pathanamthitta District: Here’s What Happened Next

A shocking crime in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district has triggered widespread outrage after a woman employee at an Ayurveda spa in Thiruvalla was allegedly gang-raped by a group of six men who had demanded extortion money from the establishment.

The incident, which took place in broad daylight on February 1, 2026, has raised serious concerns about public safety and law enforcement response in the region.

Police say the attack followed a failed attempt by the accused to extract "protection money" from the spa's management.

The brutality of the assault and the circumstances surrounding it have left the local community shaken and demanding swift justice.

Extortion Attempt Turns Violent

According to investigators, the incident began when a group of six men arrived at the Ayurveda spa and demanded ₹50,000 as protection money. The gang was allegedly led by a known offender who has a criminal record under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAPPA).

The spa owner, who is from Thrissur, reportedly told the group that he could only arrange ₹10,000. Police say this refusal angered the accused, who then turned violent inside the premises.

CCTV footage reviewed by authorities reportedly shows the gang dragging a female receptionist into a private room.

She was allegedly stripped and subjected to a brutal gang rape. Investigators believe the attack was carried out as an act of intimidation and retaliation for not paying the demanded amount.

A female customer present at the spa at the time was also allegedly targeted and sexually assaulted by some members of the group.

Police said the accused filmed the assault on their mobile phones, allegedly to threaten and silence the victims.

Arrests Made, Hunt On for Remaining Accused

Following a complaint by the victim, Thiruvalla police launched a probe and arrested two key suspects - Subin Alexander Chacko (29) and Berlin Das (38).

Police said Subin Alexander is a repeat offender with a known criminal background.

A case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of gang rape, extortion and criminal intimidation. While two accused are in custody, efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining four members of the gang who are still absconding.

Police officials have assured that the investigation will be carried out thoroughly and that all those involved will be brought to justice.

However, the incident has sparked fear and anger among residents, with many questioning how such a crime could occur in daylight and demanding stronger security measures to prevent similar attacks in the future.
