Working together with local authorities and police personnel, rescue teams searched through the debris and managed to pull out several workers trapped under the mud. The operation continued for several hours and concluded around 3:30 am.
All rescued workers were transported to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
Police Inform Families, Probe Underway
Authorities have informed the families of both the deceased and injured workers about the incident. Officials said legal procedures will begin once family members arrive and formal complaints are filed.
"Upon the arrival of the family members, a complaint will be received from them, a charge will be filed, and legal action will be taken against those responsible. The police are thoroughly investigating all aspects of the incident," the Gurugram Police said in a statement.
Questions Raised Over Safety Standards
The accident has raised concerns about whether adequate safety measures were followed at the construction site. With excavation work underway in a large residential project, questions are being asked about compliance with labour safety protocols and site management practices.
The district administration has not yet announced what specific actions it will take following the incident. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the soil collapse and whether negligence played a role.
