Pan Masala Baron’s Daughter-in-Law Suicide Case: Husband Remarried, In-Laws Accused of Physical Assault

A tragic death in Delhi's Vasant Vihar has turned into a serious dispute between two families, with the brother of a 38 year old woman alleging that years of mistreatment pushed her to take her own life.

The deceased, who was married into the Kamla Pasand pan masala family, was found dead inside the dressing room of her home.

Family's Allegations After Her Death

The woman's brother said the in laws had subjected her to "torture" and "harassment." He maintained that her husband "used to harass her," and that both the husband and mother in law "used to beat her."

He claimed that she had been brought back to Kolkata recently after the family discovered her husband had "illegally married someone else." According to him, the in laws later persuaded them to send her back to Delhi, promising that matters would improve.

"She returned only because they said they would fix things, but her husband and mother in law continued to torture her," he said. He further alleged that the husband had several "affairs," along with an "illegal child" from another relationship. "They got him divorced from there, he has an illegal child in Mumbai," he claimed.

A diary recovered from her room contained an entry mentioning "relationship issues," according to the police.

Family Lawyer Denies All Claims

The businessman's family lawyer Rajender Singh rejected the allegations outright. He called the claims "baseless and false."

"Her mother has been with us since yesterday. Both families are grieving, and everyone wants her to be cremated with dignity. There is no note or complaint against anyone," Singh said.

What Happened on the Day of the Incident

Police said the woman was alone at home when the incident took place. She lived with her husband and two children.

Her husband had left for the gym and other errands in the morning, while the children went to school. When he returned later, he found her unresponsive in the dressing room and rushed her to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

Deputy commissioner of police southwest Amit Goel said the body was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital for an autopsy. A crime team examined the scene and recorded statements from family members as part of the ongoing investigation.
