OPCC Chief Bhakta Charan Das Encourages Mahila Congress to Add 100 Women Each for Party Strengthening
Bhakta Charan Das, president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, urges Mahila Congress members to induct at least 100 women each to enhance party strength and advocate for women's rights against injustice.
During a two-day training event for Mahila Congress members, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhakta Charan Das urged the women's wing to recruit at least 100 women each. He emphasised that proactive women are capable of achieving anything. "Indira Gandhi was the symbol of women empowerment. Women are not an object. And every woman should take a decision and fight against injustice. If she does not react, she cannot fight against injustice," Das stated.

Das criticised the BJP government in Odisha, claiming it has failed to provide justice and respect for women. He highlighted the frequent reports of crimes against women, such as rape and murder, in the state. To counter this, he encouraged Mahila Congress leaders to strengthen their ranks by enlisting more women to combat these injustices.
Empowering Women in Politics
Meenakshi Bahinipati, the Mahila Congress state president, addressed the gathering of women workers. She stressed the importance of active participation in politics to bring about change. "If you want to bring the Congress government in Odisha, you will have to come out of your homes. You will have to join the fight. If needed, you have to become Goddess Sita, Kali, Durga," she said.
Bahinipati encouraged the women members to disseminate the party's message at the grassroots level. She believes that by doing so, they can effectively mobilise support and strengthen their political influence across Odisha.
Das reiterated that there is no shortage of intelligent women in society who can contribute significantly to political movements. He urged them to take decisive actions against injustices and not remain silent on issues affecting them.
The training programme aimed at equipping women with skills and knowledge necessary for effective political engagement. It also focused on empowering them to take leadership roles within their communities and beyond.
The Congress leader's call for increased female participation comes amid ongoing challenges faced by women in Odisha. By involving more women in politics, Das hopes to address these issues more effectively and ensure justice and equality for all.
