Noida International Airport May Start Commercial Flights Within 45–60 Days: Aviation Minister

Passenger and cargo flights from Noida International Airport could start within the next 45 to 60 days, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said after the airport's inauguration. The minister indicated that the infrastructure is largely ready, but commercial services will begin only after all mandatory security approvals are completed.

According to officials, the airport is currently waiting for final clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. Authorities must first approve the Airport Security Programme, a detailed document that outlines how the airport will manage passenger screening, staff access, perimeter security and emergency procedures.

The programme acts as the central security framework for airport operations. It also sets rules for issuing Airport Entry Passes to airlines, staff and service providers. Until the document receives approval, operational passes cannot be issued, which means commercial flight services cannot begin.

In the initial phase, the airport will operate with a single runway. Early operations are expected to focus on domestic passenger flights and cargo movement, while international services are likely to be introduced later as the airport expands its capacity.

Following the inauguration ceremony, residents from nearby Jewar visited the airport to see the new terminal and airside facilities, reflecting strong local interest in the project.

Shailendra Bhatia, representing Noida International Airport Limited, also suggested that the airport could become operational within about 45 days if the remaining approvals are completed on schedule.

Naidu said authorities are now concentrating on meeting these final procedural requirements so that the airport can start serving travellers and cargo operators soon.
