Kashmir Times Office in Jammu Raided, AK-47 Cartridges and Pistol Rounds Seized

The State Investigation Agency of the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted an extensive search at the Jammu office of the Kashmir Times on Thursday after allegations that the publication was involved in activities deemed harmful to national interests.

Officers carried out the operation through the day, recovering several rounds of ammunition from the premises.

Ammunition Found During Search

Police sources confirmed that AK 47 cartridges, pistol rounds and three grenade levers were seized during the raid. The operation, which began earlier in the day, remained in progress as investigators continued examining material found inside the office.

FIR Filed Against Publication and Editor

A First Information Report was registered against the newspaper on charges of spreading disaffection, encouraging secessionist tendencies and posing a threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India and the Union Territory. Kashmir Times Executive Editor Anuradha Bhasin was also named in the FIR. According to police sources, the investigation is focused on reviewing any suspected links or activities that "threaten the sovereignty" of the country.

A Legacy Publication in Jammu and Kashmir

Kashmir Times is among the oldest media institutions in the region. It was founded by Ved Bhasin and began as a weekly in 1954 before transitioning into a daily newspaper in 1964.
