Jammu Juvenile Home Jailbreak Caught On CCTV: Three Inmates, Including Two Pakistani Nationals Escape

Jammu police are investigating a jailbreak at a juvenile observation home, where three inmates escaped after injuring guards. CCTV showed a firearm inside the facility and security checks are under review amid heightened border region vigilance.

Police in Jammu launched an extensive search after three inmates, including two Pakistani nationals, escaped from a juvenile observation home in R S Pura on 5.15pm Monday, injuring two armed guards and sparking security alerts across the border region.

The escapees were identified as Karajeet Singh alias Gugga from Dablehar in R S Pura, and Pakistani nationals Mohammad Suna-ullah and Ahsan Anwar, who allegedly assaulted the on-duty policemen before fleeing and setting off a district-wide manhunt.

Jammu jailbreak search focuses on CCTV footage and armed assault

CCTV footage from inside the observation home showed one inmate pointing a firearm at security staff and opening fire within the facility. Investigators said the weapon was a locally made pistol that had been smuggled into the premises, prompting questions on internal security checks.

Special Police Officer Vinay Kumar and Head Constable Praveen Kumar sustained injuries during the attack. Medical Officer Dr. Sanowar Singh at the Sub-District Hospital said both officers received initial treatment there and were then referred to Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu for specialised care.

Border security and Jammu jailbreak search intensify after escape

According to officials, the trio later allegedly snatched a motorcycle at gunpoint and used it to flee the R S Pura area. Security agencies quickly tightened vigil, fearing the group might try to reach the national highway or move towards the India-Pakistan border.

Checkpoints were set up on key routes, particularly towards Samba district, while Jammu Police formed specialised teams that carried out raids at several suspected hideouts. The search operation extended across Jammu district as authorities tracked possible escape routes and support networks.

Senior officers, including Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat and Inspector General Bhim Sen Tuti, visited the observation home to review the scene. Police said inquiries were under way into how the pistol entered the facility and whether any staff lapses enabled the jailbreak and subsequent flight.
