Indian Expat Killed In Ras Al Khaimah After Wall Collapse During Heavy UAE Rains

A 27-year-old Indian expatriate was killed in Ras Al Khaimah after a wall collapsed during heavy rainfall that affected parts of the United Arab Emirates. The victim has been identified as Salman Fariz. The incident occurred amid adverse weather conditions that have triggered widespread disruption across several emirates.

Salman Fariz was employed as a delivery agent at a cafeteria in the Nakheel area of Ras Al Khaimah. He lost his life around 3 am when a wall that was still under construction reportedly gave way and collapsed on him. His employer and a social worker, quoted by Gulf News, confirmed the details of the incident. Local authorities have launched an investigation to establish the precise cause of the collapse. The incident has raised safety concerns among Indian workers, especially those residing in low-lying areas or close to construction sites.

Officials have urged residents to exercise caution as inspections and safety checks continue in areas affected by the heavy rain. Videos circulating on social media showed several vehicles partially submerged on flooded roads in locations such as Karama and Al Barsha.

The severe weather also disrupted air travel, with airlines including Emirates and flydubai cancelling or rescheduling multiple flights. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast continued rainfall in the coming days, along with the possibility of thunderstorms, strong winds and hail. The weather agency has also warned of reduced visibility and rough sea conditions along the coast.

In response to the situation, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) instructed private sector companies in affected areas to shift to remote work arrangements. Authorities in Abu Dhabi cancelled community events, while adventure activities at Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah were temporarily suspended.

The weather department has cautioned that unstable conditions may persist over the next few days and has advised residents to remain alert, follow official guidelines and monitor emergency alerts and updates.
