Free Gas Offer! Companies Offer ₹500 PNG Benefit Amid LPG Supply Concerns

With LPG supplies under pressure due to disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, the Indian government and city gas distributors have introduced special incentives offering free gas to encourage households to switch to piped natural gas (PNG).

Officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said several City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies have rolled out promotional schemes that allow consumers to receive free gas worth ₹500 when they apply for new PNG connections.

How Consumers Can Get Free Gas

According to reports, consumers interested in switching from LPG to PNG can apply through multiple channels, including email, company websites, customer portals, letters, or call centres of gas distribution firms.

Gas Companies Offering Free Benefits

Indraprastha Gas Limited is offering free gas worth ₹500 to domestic consumers who register for a PNG connection before March 31, 2026.

GAIL Gas Limited is also providing ₹500 worth of free gas for households that sign up for a new PNG connection.

Mahanagar Gas Limited has waived the ₹500 registration charge for domestic PNG users and removed security deposits for commercial connections.

Bharat Petroleum has eliminated the security deposit requirement for commercial PNG connections, making it easier for businesses to adopt piped gas.

Push to Reduce LPG Pressure

The incentives come at a time when global energy supply chains are under stress because of tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which have impacted shipping routes near the Gulf.

By encouraging households to shift to piped natural gas, the government aims to reduce demand for LPG cylinders while ensuring stable gas supply for consumers.

Officials said the current offers are meant to make the transition easier and more attractive for households that are still dependent on LPG cylinders.
