Faridabad Gang-Rape: CCTV Video Becomes Key Evidence in Probe

CCTV footage has surfaced in the Faridabad gang-rape case, showing a van linked to the assault on a 28-year-old woman. The clip captures the vehicle moving along a road, while several other cars are parked nearby, providing investigators with crucial visual evidence.

Police stated that both accused have been arrested and the van seen in the CCTV recording has been seized. Investigators are now piecing together the route of the vehicle and the sequence of events that led to the woman being dumped on the road.

Faridabad gang-rape case: CCTV van footage and key evidence

According to officials, the assault happened on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The woman was waiting for transport to return home when two young men approached and convinced the woman to enter their van, saying they would drop the woman home safely.

Investigators believe the woman remained inside the van for nearly two-and-a-half hours. During this period, the accused allegedly took turns raping the woman. Around 3 am, the woman was pushed out of the moving van, leaving the woman with heavy bleeding and serious facial injuries on the road.

Faridabad gang-rape case: events before and after assault

The woman’s family took the woman to hospital, where doctors gave 10 to 12 stitches on the woman’s face. Police said the woman’s condition is now stable, but the woman remains deeply traumatised, and investigators have not yet been able to formally record the woman’s statement.

In a complaint, the victim’s sister said the woman called a day before the assault, around 8.30 pm. The woman reportedly said there had been an argument with the woman’s mother and that the woman was heading to a friend’s house, planning to return within three hours.

Police added that the woman is married and has three children. The woman lives apart from the woman’s husband because of a domestic dispute. Officers say these personal details do not change the case’s seriousness and that legal action against the arrested men is underway.
