After 7 Months Of Operation Sindoor, 5 Suspected Pakistani Drones Spotted Near LOC

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir were placed on high alert on Sunday evening after several suspected Pakistani drones were detected hovering near the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB).

The sightings were reported from Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch districts, prompting the Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) to launch extensive search operations across the affected border regions.

Officials confirmed that there were at least five drone sightings between Sunday evening and late night. One of the drones was fired upon by Indian troops in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri, as the military remains vigilant against potential cross-border threats.

Army Fires at Drone Near Nowshera Sector

According to sources, a drone-like object was first detected flying at low altitude over Khabbar village in Teryath, reportedly entering Indian airspace from Dharmsal village under Kalakote tehsil. The suspicious movement of the drone, which had blinking white lights, was quickly tracked by security personnel.

In another incident, Indian Army troops opened fire around 6:35 PM in Gania-Kalsian village of the Nowshera sector after spotting a Pakistani drone along the LoC. Troops used light and medium machine guns to neutralize the aerial threat. However, it remains unclear whether the drone was hit or managed to retreat across the border.

Authorities have launched ground search operations in all affected areas to check whether any arms, explosives, or narcotics were dropped. Security agencies believe the repeated drone sightings could be part of a larger attempt by Pakistan-based groups to smuggle weapons or gather intelligence.

Drone Sightings Follow Masood Azhar's Warning

The sudden rise in drone activity comes just a day after Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar was allegedly heard in an audio recording claiming that more than a thousand suicide bombers were ready to infiltrate India. In the clip, the UN-designated terrorist reportedly said that the number of militants under his command was so large that it would "shock the world" if revealed.

Azhar, who continues to operate from Pakistan despite international pressure, has been linked to several major attacks on India, including the Pulwama and Pathankot terror attacks.

Security experts believe that the timing of the drone sightings - just after Azhar's provocative remarks - cannot be ignored. A senior officer said, "We are taking every threat seriously. Our troops are fully alert along the border, and surveillance has been intensified across all sectors."

Security Strengthened Along Border

Following the incidents, the Army, BSF, and police have stepped up coordination to prevent any potential infiltration attempts. Drone detection systems and night surveillance devices have been activated along sensitive stretches of the border, while additional troops have been deployed in vulnerable areas.

No weapons or contraband have been recovered so far, but officials confirmed that search operations are still underway in Rajouri, Poonch, and Samba districts.

As tensions rise, India's border security forces remain determined to counter any cross-border mischief and ensure that no attempt to destabilize peace in the region succeeds.
