14 Lakh Gold Stolen in Minutes From UP Jewellery Store, Video Goes Viral

A group of four women allegedly pulled off a gold jewellery theft worth about Rs 14 lakh from a Kalyan Jewellers outlet in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, slipping out within 14 minutes, with staff realising the loss only after a later stock check and CCTV review.

The incident took place inside the Civil Lines area showroom, where the women walked in acting like regular customers. Staff initially treated the visit as a routine sale enquiry, unaware that the interaction would turn into a major theft case under investigation by local police teams.

According to the footage, a salesman was occupied displaying ornaments away from the counter when one woman quietly removed a display pad holding gold earrings from a glass showcase. The pad was then handed to another woman, who hid the earrings under a shawl while remaining seated.

The group continued the pretence of browsing for some time, then exited the store without creating suspicion, as no alarm was raised by staff. The method relied on distraction and coordination, with each woman playing a specific role during the gold jewellery theft inside the busy showroom.

The theft surfaced later, when employees at Kalyan Jewellers matched inventory records with items seen in the CCTV clips. Only then did staff notice that the display pad and its gold earrings were missing, prompting an internal check and confirmation of jewellery worth around Rs 14 lakh lost during the brief visit.

Following the discovery, the showroom manager filed an FIR at Civil Lines police station against four unidentified women. A case of gold jewellery theft was registered, and officers began reviewing the in-store footage frame by frame to identify faces, movements, and the timing of each step in the alleged crime.

Civil Lines police station in-charge Ram Aashray Yadav said teams are actively working to apprehend the women involved in the crime. Yadav stated that officers are scanning multiple CCTV cameras on nearby roads to trace the route of the suspects before and after the gold jewellery theft.

Police are treating the case as a planned operation, using store footage and surrounding cameras to build a timeline of the suspects’ movements.
