10 Killed, Over 20 Injured in Bus Accident In Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara

A tragic road accident in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district claimed at least 10 lives and left more than 20 people injured on Thursday.

The collision involved a passenger bus and a pick-up vehicle, leading to a major emergency response in the area.

Authorities have confirmed that the accident occurred on Nagpur Road near Simaria, around 25 kilometres from the district headquarters.

How the Accident Happened

According to police officials, the bus was returning from a public function attended by the Chief Minister when it collided with a pick-up vehicle. The impact of the crash was severe, resulting in multiple fatalities on the spot.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest that the collision happened suddenly, leaving little time for the drivers to react.

Casualties and Injuries

Superintendent of Police Ajay Pandey confirmed that 10 people lost their lives in the accident. The victims include six men, three women and one child.

More than 20 others were injured, some of them seriously. The injured passengers were quickly rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Officials said the bus was carrying over 40 passengers at the time, which increased the number of casualties.

Rescue and Relief Efforts

Soon after the accident, local authorities and emergency services reached the spot and began rescue operations. Ambulances and other vehicles were used to transport the injured to the district hospital and nearby medical centres.

Senior officials, including the district collector and police officers, visited the hospital to oversee the treatment of the injured and ensure proper arrangements.

Situation at the Hospital

Doctors are currently treating the injured, and some patients are said to be in critical condition. Hospital staff have been put on alert to handle the emergency, and additional medical support has been arranged.

Officials are also working to identify the victims and inform their families.
