Half-Day Classes In Hyderabad Schools From March 16, Ramzan Schedule Set, Summer Vacations Dates Out

Schools across Hyderabad and several districts of Telangana will soon operate on reduced hours, with the state education authorities introducing a half-day schedule ahead of the summer months and examination season.

The revised timetable aims to manage rising daytime temperatures while ensuring academic activity continues without disruption.

Half-day classes from March 16

According to the revised arrangement, schools will function from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm starting March 16. Students enrolled in government and local body schools will be provided mid-day meals at 12:30 pm before dispersal.

The adjustment applies to most institutions in Hyderabad and other districts, allowing children to avoid peak afternoon heat while still completing regular coursework.

Separate timetable for SSC exam centres

Schools that have been designated as centres for the SSC Public Examinations will follow a different routine during the examination period. Since the board exams will take place in the morning session, classes in these campuses will be held from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

In government schools hosting Class X examination centres, authorities will first serve mid-day meals and then conduct classes. Once the examination schedule concludes, these schools will revert to the standard half-day timings of 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Summer vacation and reopening date

The academic calendar also confirms the upcoming summer holidays. Schools will remain closed from April 24 to June 11, and institutions will reopen on June 12 for the 2026-27 academic year.

Ramzan schedule and compensatory teaching

The School Education department has also modified the working hours of Urdu-medium schools and district institutes of education and training in view of Ramzan. These institutions may function from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm between February 19 and March 20.

To compensate for lost instructional time, schools will later add extra teaching hours. Upper primary and high schools will conduct one additional hour of classes daily, while primary schools will extend teaching by half an hour each day after the festival period.
