A shocking video showing Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 contestant Dhruvanth assaulting a woman has gone viral on social media, reigniting outrage over the actor's controversial past.

For those unaware, Dhruvanth's real name is Charith Balappa. The television actor was arrested in Bengaluru in 2024 for allegedly sexually harassing a female colleague, according to police reports.

In the resurfaced clip, Dhruvanth is seen engaged in a heated altercation with a woman, accusing her of "ruining his life."

Balappa, known for his roles in Kannada and Telugu serials since the mid-2010s, was booked following a complaint filed by a 29-year-old television actress. The complainant, who had acted alongside him in several serials since 2017, lodged a police complaint on December 13, 2024, accusing him of mental harassment, extortion, and death threats, The Hindu reported.

According to her statement, she first met Balappa in November 2023. She alleged that he pressured her to reciprocate his romantic feelings and forced her into a physical relationship, threatening to defame her and leak private photos if she refused. The FIR also claimed that he demanded money and boasted of his influence with gangsters, politicians, and police officials.

The RR Nagar Police had booked Balappa under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for offences including voluntarily causing hurt, extortion, criminal intimidation, and sexual harassment.

What Dhruvanth Said Then

In a media interview following his arrest, Dhruvanth denied all allegations. He claimed the woman-whom he described as a "lesser-known TV actress"-had approached him multiple times, saying she came from a poor family in Bellary and was struggling with debts and educational loans.

According to him, she proposed a relationship, and he developed feelings for her since he was divorced. Dhruvanth said he later gave her ₹1 lakh through GPay, allegedly to help with her sister's wedding expenses, and insisted the accusations were baseless.
