Ranveer Singh Gets Extra Security After Extortion Threat Linked to Bishnoi Gang

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has been placed under enhanced security after receiving a threatening WhatsApp voice message demanding several crores of rupees. The caller allegedly claimed links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, prompting the actor to immediately alert the Mumbai Police, who stepped up protection at his residence and housing society.

Police sources said additional personnel, along with private security guards, have been deployed around the actor's home as a precautionary measure. Technical teams are tracing the origin of the voice note and examining digital evidence to identify the sender.

The threat surfaced days after a late-night firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's residence in Mumbai's Juhu area. At least five rounds were fired at the nine-storey building, with one bullet shattering the glass façade of a gym on the first floor. No injuries were reported.

Investigators are probing whether the two incidents are linked. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang had earlier claimed responsibility for the firing at Shetty's residence through a social media post, followed by an audio message allegedly released by a gangster identifying himself as Arju Bishnoi.

Following the heightened security around Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's residential complex, the housing society management wrote to police seeking clarification, citing inconvenience to residents due to the movement of armed personnel in common areas.

Meanwhile, Pune Police have detained five suspects in connection with the Rohit Shetty firing case, whom Mumbai Police believe have links to the Bishnoi gang. Authorities said further details will emerge as investigations progress.
