Prashant Tamang and Geeta Thapa aka Martha Aley’s Love Story: From First Flight to Family Life

Fans of singer and actor Prashant Tamang are mourning the sudden passing of the 43-year-old, who died of a cardiac arrest on January 11, 2026. The former Kolkata Police personnel, who rose to national fame through music and films, is survived by his wife, Geeta Thapa-also known as Martha Aley-and their young daughter, Ariah.

While Prashant's work in entertainment brought him widespread recognition, his wife Geeta has largely stayed away from the public eye. Known for her calm and reserved nature, she has been a steady support behind the scenes throughout their marriage.

The couple's journey began on an international flight. Geeta, then working as a flight attendant, met Prashant while he was travelling for a musical tour to Dimapur in Nagaland. What started as a casual conversation soon blossomed into a meaningful connection, and the two kept in touch after the flight.

Over time, their friendship turned into love, and they chose to marry in a private ceremony on February 16, 2011. The wedding was attended only by close family and trusted friends, reflecting their preference for a low-profile personal life. Since then, the couple shared more than a decade together, largely away from the media spotlight.

Geeta hails from Nagaland and comes from a family with a strong public service background; her father served as Deputy Inspector General in the LIC. After leaving her career as a flight attendant, she continued to maintain a quiet life, focusing on her family.

In 2022, the couple welcomed their daughter, Ariah, a joyful milestone they shared with fans on social media. Prashant had earlier announced the pregnancy, and supporters celebrated the arrival of their child as a new chapter in the family's life.

Following Prashant's passing, Geeta spoke about the overwhelming support she has received from fans and well-wishers. She said, "Thank you to everyone. I've been receiving calls from all over the world. People that I know, people that I don't know-I've been getting flowers. People are standing outside my house, and people have come to the hospital to see him for the last time."

Geeta also urged fans to remember Prashant for his kindness and humanity. "It's really overwhelming for me, and please love him as you have loved him earlier. He was a great soul; he was a great human. I hope you remember him like that," she said.
