Nivetha Thomas AI Images Spark Concern, Malayalam Actorress Warns Against Misuse of Identity Online
Malayalam actress Nivetha Thomas has joined a growing list of public figures hit by AI-generated deepfake images, after Sreeleela and YouTuber Payal Dhare, known as Payal Gaming. Nivetha has issued a strong public statement on X, warning against misuse of her identity and urging social media users not to share or engage with such manipulated content.
In a detailed note, Nivetha said that altered pictures created using artificial intelligence have been circulated online by using a recent photograph from her social media. She stressed that this activity is happening without consent and described the circulation as a serious breach of privacy, calling the trend disturbing and unlawful.

AI-generated images misuse: Nivetha Thomas records her legal stand
Nivetha Thomas wrote on X, "It has come to my attention that AI-generated images misusing my identity and a recent photograph I shared on my social media are being circulated online. The creation and circulation of such content without consent is deeply disturbing, unacceptable, and unlawful. It constitutes digital impersonation and a serious invasion of my privacy."
Expanding on that, Nivetha directly addressed those behind the AI-generated images and warned of legal consequences. "I am putting this on record. Those responsible, including accounts operating behind anonymity, are directed to immediately stop and take down such content. I urge others to recognise the harm in enabling this behaviour. Do not reshare, engage with, or legitimise such material in any form. Any continued circulation will be treated as deliberate misuse of my identity and escalated legally," she added.
AI-generated images controversy: Earlier concerns by Sreeleela and Payal Gaming
Before Nivetha spoke out, Sreeleela had already raised alarm about the misuse of artificial intelligence for creating fake visuals. Sreeleela highlighted that technology should not be twisted for such content and appealed to social media users to act responsibly while dealing with AI-generated images and videos circulating online.
She wrote, "I put my hands together and request every social media user not to support AI-generated nonsense. There is a difference between using and abusing technology. Advancements in technology are meant to simplify life, not complicate it, in my opinion." Sreeleela’s statement reflected growing unease in the entertainment industry over deepfake style AI-generated images.
YouTuber Payal Dhare, widely known as Payal Gaming, has also faced a fake video controversy linked to AI-generated material. Payal has decided to take 'appropriate legal action' against the video and the misuse of name and likeness. Payal has over four million subscribers on YouTube and more than four million followers on Instagram, which increases the impact of such AI-generated images and clips.
The fresh complaint from Nivetha Thomas, along with earlier objections from Sreeleela and Payal Dhare, shows how AI-generated images and videos are affecting actors and digital creators. Their public notes focus on consent, privacy, and legal rights, and signal that use of artificial intelligence for fake content is likely to face stronger pushback in the entertainment space.
