Jana Nayagan Box Office Collection: Rs 4.6 Crore In Bengaluru; Chennai Awaits Advance Booking

The advance booking for Thalapathy Vijay's much-awaited film Jana Nayagan has taken off on a strong note across several parts of the country, signalling massive pre-release buzz for the star's latest outing. Interestingly, this robust response has come even as Chennai and much of Tamil Nadu are yet to officially open ticket reservations, making the early numbers all the more striking.

According to trade estimates, over two lakh tickets have already been sold, generating an estimated ₹9 crore in advance revenue, as per Sacnilk data. What stands out is that these figures have been achieved despite the absence of full-fledged bookings in Vijay's home state, which is traditionally the film's strongest market. The delay in Tamil Nadu has been attributed to the pending clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), with exhibitors waiting for the green signal before opening bookings statewide.

Strong nationwide traction despite Tamil Nadu delay

Advance booking data suggests that Jana Nayagan is witnessing solid traction in key markets outside Tamil Nadu. Karnataka has emerged as the biggest contributor so far, with a gross of approximately ₹3.15 crore (₹4.6 crore including block seats). The state has listed 257 shows, with a healthy 38 percent real occupancy, and as many as 81 shows already marked as almost full.

Kerala has also shown steady interest, clocking ₹82.52 lakh in gross collections, spread across an extensive 1,151 shows. While the real occupancy stands at a modest 15 percent, over 111 shows are nearly full, indicating strong demand in select centres. Maharashtra, though smaller in scale, has recorded a notable 40 percent occupancy, with Mumbai alone contributing significantly to the numbers.

Tamil Nadu numbers hint at pent-up demand

Despite the official delay, Tamil Nadu has already posted a gross of ₹1.73 crore, largely through limited listings and early bookings in select centres. With 525 shows listed and a striking 50 percent real occupancy, the state has 216 shows marked as almost full, underlining the massive pent-up demand awaiting a full-scale booking launch.

Chennai, in particular, has seen an unusual scenario. Only four shows have been listed so far, but all of them are 100 percent sold out, clearly indicating that demand far exceeds current availability. Trade experts believe that once bookings officially open across the state, the numbers could surge dramatically within hours.

City-wise highlights paint a promising picture

A closer look at city-level data further reinforces the strong buzz around Jana Nayagan. Bengaluru leads with a gross of over ₹3 crore, supported by 238 shows and nearly 40 percent occupancy. In Tamil Nadu, Madurai, Coimbatore, and Salem have posted impressive figures, with real occupancy ranging between 57 percent and 73 percent, and a high number of shows nearing full capacity.

Kerala centres such as Thrissur, Kollam, and Kozhikode have also recorded steady bookings, while cities like Trivandrum have shown gradual pick-up across a large number of shows. In Maharashtra, Mumbai stands out with a strong 45 percent occupancy, suggesting solid urban interest.

All eyes on censor clearance

With advance bookings already gaining momentum nationwide, the focus now shifts to the CBFC clearance, which is expected to unlock full bookings in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu. Trade analysts believe that once that hurdle is crossed, Jana Nayagan could witness a booking rush that significantly boosts its advance revenue figures.

For now, the film's advance booking performance has sent a clear message: Vijay's star power remains undiminished, and even a partial rollout has been enough to generate impressive numbers. As Tamil Nadu joins the booking wave, Jana Nayagan appears poised for a thunderous opening at the box office.
