With assembly elections around the corner, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced on Friday that Rs 5,000 has been deposited into the accounts of 1.31 crore women across Tamil Nadu under the Kalaignar Women's Rights Scheme (Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam). The package includes ₹3,000 as an advance payment for February, March, and April, along with an additional ₹2,000 "summer special" grant.

In a post on X, Stalin alleged that attempts were being made to block the scheme for three months citing the election schedule, but said his government acted early to ensure uninterrupted support. He emphasized that the initiative was a personal promise to Tamil Nadu's women, declaring: "No matter who tries to create obstacles, I will not step back."

Stalin also pledged that if re‑elected, his government would roll out "Dravidian Model 2.0", doubling the monthly assistance from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000. He framed the move as a commitment to women voters, adding: "With the support of Winning Tamil Women, we will continue to win."
