Gold & Silver Prices In Chennai On February 12: Is It Cheaper Or Costlier Today?

Gold and silver prices in Chennai witnessed a decline on Thursday, February 12, offering slight relief to buyers amid recent volatility in the bullion market.

As per the latest update at 10:00 AM on Bullions website, the price of 24 Karat gold stood at Rs 1,58,250 per 10 grams, down by Rs 850 compared to the previous session, marking a 0.53 per cent dip.

On a per gram basis, 24K gold is being sold at Rs 15,825, while 100 grams cost Rs 15,82,500. The price of one kilogram of 24K gold in Tamil Nadu has been listed at Rs 1,58,25,000. Meanwhile, one ounce of 24K gold is priced at Rs 4,48,631, and one tola costs Rs 1,84,580, the data said.

Among other variants, 22 Karat gold - widely preferred for jewellery purchases - is currently priced at Rs 1,45,063 per 10 grams and Rs 14,506 per gram. For bulk buyers, 100 grams of 22K gold costs Rs 14,50,625, while one kilogram is valued at Rs 1,45,06,250.

The rates for lower purity gold categories have also been updated. 20 Karat gold is priced at Rs 1,31,875 per 10 grams, while 18 Karat gold stands at Rs 1,18,688 per 10 grams. Similarly, 16 Karat gold is available at Rs 1,05,500 per 10 grams, 14 Karat at Rs 92,313, 12 Karat at Rs 79,125, and 10 Karat gold at Rs 65,938 per 10 grams.

Market data indicates that gold prices in Tamil Nadu have softened from the previous rate of Rs 1,59,100 per 10 grams for 24K gold, reflecting a 0.53 per cent fall. Analysts attribute the marginal decline to fluctuations in global bullion trends and currency movements, which continue to influence domestic prices.

Silver prices have also registered a noticeable drop. The rate for Silver 999 fine quality stands at Rs 260,960 per kilogram, down 1.17 per cent from the previous rate of Rs 2,64,040 per kg. On a smaller scale, silver is priced at Rs 261 per gram and Rs 2,610 per 10 grams. One ounce of Silver 999 costs Rs 7,398, while a tola is priced at Rs 3,044.

Other silver variants have also seen revised prices. Silver 925 Sterling is currently trading at Rs 2,41,388 per kilogram, while Silver 900 Coin is priced at Rs 2,34,864 per kilogram. Silver 800 German is available at Rs 2,08,768 per kilogram.

With wedding season demand and investment interest continuing in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu, buyers are closely monitoring daily fluctuations. While today's dip may encourage short-term purchases, experts advise investors to keep an eye on global cues and currency trends before making large bullion investments.
