He emphasised that Vidarbha's cultural legacy, combined with modern infrastructure and leadership, positions it to emerge as a centre of industry, innovation, and sustainable progress.
Vidarbha's Legacy And Renewed Promise
"It is a privilege to join you at Advantage Vidarbha 2026 - a platform that brings together visionary minds shaping the future not just of Vidarbha, not just of Maharashtra, but of India itself," Adani said, setting the tone for his address.
Reflecting on the region's heritage, he noted, "Before we speak of the future, it is important to remember what Vidarbha has always represented. The very name 'Vidarbha,' rooted in ancient Sanskrit, signifies purity, refinement, and sacred strength - derived from 'vi,' meaning unique, and 'darbha,' the resilient sacred grass."
He highlighted the region's historical depth, describing it as "a land of exceptional craftsmanship, cultural depth, wisdom, and courage," while recalling its connections to ancient kingdoms and spiritual traditions. Nagpur, once the capital of the Central Provinces and Berar and now Maharashtra's winter capital, was described as a city that has "evolved from a historic administrative centre into a rising hub of industry, innovation, and connectivity."
"I firmly believe that Vidarbha - true to the meaning of its name as a land of strength and uniqueness - is ready to transform its rich heritage into renewed economic and cultural power," he added.
Leadership Driving Vidarbha's Momentum
Adani credited national and state leadership for accelerating development across the region. "The momentum we see today is no accident. It is the outcome of leaders who have invested their political capital, administrative vision, and personal conviction in unlocking Vidarbha's potential," he said.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he remarked that the focus on infrastructure, logistics, and clean energy has helped create an investment-friendly ecosystem. He also acknowledged Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for transforming connectivity and described infrastructure as "not just engineering - it is nationbuilding."
On Maharashtra's leadership, he stated that Devendra Fadnavis "has been a steadfast advocate for balanced regional development," adding that such efforts ensure Vidarbha is defined "not merely by potential-but by progress."
Energy, Industry, And Jobs At The Core
Reaffirming the group's long-term commitment, Adani said, "Our presence in Vidarbha is not transactional; it is generational. We are here to build energy security, create highquality jobs, uplift communities, and strengthen India's economic foundations."
He explained that the group's investments align with three priorities: "1. powering India's clean and reliable energy future, 2. developing integrated industrial and logistics ecosystems, and 3. enabling inclusive growth for communities and youth."
Highlighting operational achievements, he noted, "At Tiroda, we operate Maharashtra's largest and most advanced 3,300 MW supercritical power plant - built to the highest global standards of efficiency and environmental responsibility." He also pointed to the revival of the 600 MW Butibori plant in 2025 and a 25year supply agreement ensuring 6,600 MW of dependable electricity for the state.
Calling it a transformative initiative, Adani announced, "One of our most transformative commitments is the ₹70,000 crore Integrated Coal Gasification and Downstream Derivatives Complex at Linga, Kalmeshwar." He added that the project "will create 30,000 direct jobs, build advanced chemical manufacturing capabilities, boost energy independence for critical industries, and place Nagpur firmly on the global map of cleanenergy technologies."
Logistics, Aviation, Sustainability, And Community Growth
Detailing responsible mining efforts, Adani said, "In Gondkhairi, our underground mine represents the gold standard of responsible mining - with minimal land use, zero displacement, no blasting, rainwater harvesting, zeroeffluent discharge, and a 5,000tree plantation initiative."
He further noted that the group is strengthening Vidarbha's logistics capabilities through a 75acre ICD at Borkhedi and the acquisition of 24 border check posts, measures aimed at reducing freight costs and boosting exports.
In aviation and defence, the acquisition of Indamer Technics Pvt. Ltd. has expanded a 30acre MRO complex at MIHAN, positioning Nagpur as an emerging international hub for aircraft maintenance.
Adani also underlined the role of the Adani Foundation in supporting healthcare, education, women's empowerment through 43 self-help groups, nutrition initiatives, and projects related to solar lighting, water access, sports, and school development.
"Sustainability is at the heart of our agenda," he said, citing zero water discharge practices at Tiroda, fly ash reuse, and the group's pledge to plant 100 million trees by 2030. He added that Adani Energy Solutions is on track to achieve 60% renewable sourcing by 2027, demonstrating that "progress and sustainability can - and must - rise together."
Looking ahead, Adani expressed confidence in the region's trajectory: "As I look ahead, I see Vidarbha not merely as a region of Maharashtra, but as a region that will help define India's growth story for decades to come."
He concluded with a message of partnership and shared ambition: "Together, we will build an era of opportunity, resilience, and prosperity - one that inspires the entire country. This is our promise. This is our purpose. And this is the Vidarbha we will build together."
