Bengaluru Power Cut on February 7: 22 Areas Will Be Without Electricity for 7 Hours

Many parts of Bengaluru, including north, west and central areas are set to face long power cuts on February 4, 2026, with electricity supply expected to be interrupted for about seven hours in several neighbourhoods, BESCOM has warned. Residents have been asked to plan ahead for the daytime outage.

The shutdown has been announced by the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) following directions from the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL). The outage will be carried out to facilitate urgent repair and maintenance work under the Jalahalli and Rajajinagar division.

The power cuts are due to emergency maintenance work being carried out by KPTCL at the 66/11 kV Vijayanagar substation under the Rajajinagar division and Jalahalli division.

BESCOM said power supply will remain unavailable between 10 am and 5 pm on both days to allow KPTCL teams to complete urgent maintenance work safely. Residents and businesses in the affected areas have been advised to plan essential activities in advance.

Safety advisory

Additional areas expected to face power disruption include KHB Colony, HVR Layout, surroundings of Syndicate Bank Colony and Siddayya Puranik Road, Papayya Garden KHB Colony, parts of Magadi Main Road, and a section of Agrahara Dasarahalli.

BESCOM has advised residents in these areas to remain cautious during the outage period and plan accordingly.

The advisory comes amid heightened concern for staff safety following a recent attack on power employees in Dakshina Kannada district, reportedly linked to a power disconnection incident. BESCOM has urged public cooperation during maintenance and restoration work.

What residents should do

BESCOM officials said the maintenance window is essential to complete urgent repair work and ensure safe restoration of power supply once the work is done. Residents have been advised to keep inverters, emergency lights, phones and other essential devices fully charged before the outage begins.
