Bengaluru Murder Case: Kannada Actress, Two Others Held Over Live-In Partner’s Death

A Kannada actress known for appearing in small roles in films and television serials has been arrested along with two others in connection with a murder case in Bengaluru. The arrests were made by the Bagalagunte Police Station after the decomposed body of a man was found inside a locked rented house in Vijayalakshmi Layout.

The accused have been identified as Bindu, Vinay and Dhanush, while the deceased has been identified as Mohan Krishna, a small-time financier who was reportedly in a live-in relationship with Bindu.

The case came to light on March 1 when residents in Vijayalakshmi Layout complained of a strong foul smell emanating from a rented house in the area. Concerned neighbours reportedly checked the premises and discovered a decomposed body inside, following which they alerted the police.

Officers from Bagalagunte police station rushed to the spot and launched a detailed investigation. The house falls under the jurisdiction of the Bagalagunte police limits. According to officials, the landlord had not executed a formal rental agreement as the occupants had indicated they would vacate the property soon.

Investigators said Mohan Krishna had separated from his spouse and had been living with Bindu for nearly two months in the rented house. Police stated that Bindu had earlier appeared in minor roles in Kannada films such as Bajrangi, Police Quarters and Kalabhairava, apart from acting in several television serials.

During the investigation, police found that Vinay and Dhanush were frequently visiting the house and socialising with the couple.

Police believe the murder took place on February 18. According to investigators, Bindu had grown close to Vinay, who had reportedly expressed interest in marrying her. Officers alleged that Krishna's presence became a source of tension.

A senior police officer said that Bindu and Vinay allegedly conspired to eliminate Krishna, fearing that he would obstruct their relationship. Dhanush is also accused of participating in the crime.

As per the police version, all four had gathered at the rented house on the night of February 18. Officers alleged that Krishna, who was intoxicated, attempted to sexually assault Bindu during the gathering. Enraged by the alleged incident, Vinay is said to have stabbed Krishna multiple times.

When Krishna started shouting, the accused allegedly wrapped cello tape around his mouth and nose, leading to suffocation. Police claim Krishna died due to asphyxiation. The accused then allegedly locked the house and fled.

Police tracked the three accused using mobile phone location data and call detail records. Bindu, Vinay and Dhanush have been arrested and booked under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Officials said the arrests came nearly two weeks after the alleged killing and shortly after the body was discovered. Investigators are now collecting forensic evidence, verifying the sequence of events and preparing the chargesheet for court proceedings.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as the probe progresses.
