Bengaluru Metro to Run Till 2 AM on April 5 for IPL Match; BMRCL Extends Services Across Network

Bengaluru Metro services will run till 2 a.m. on April 5-6 as the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has extended operations across the network to manage the surge of passengers attending the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 match in the city on Sunday. The late-night extension, which applies to trains from all terminal stations, is aimed at ensuring smooth post-match travel for cricket fans, with key departures scheduled between 12:30 a.m. and 2 a.m., including major connectivity from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic).

According to a BMRCL press release, metro services-usually ending around 11 p.m.-will continue into the early hours of April 6, allowing spectators to return home without relying heavily on road transport. The last trains from Whitefield (Kadugodi) and Bommasandra will depart at 12:30 a.m., while services from Challaghatta, Silk Institute, and Madavara will run until 12:45 a.m. The final train from Majestic will leave at 1:30 a.m. towards all four directions, and an additional late service from R.V. Road will operate until 2 a.m.

To ease passenger movement, BMRCL has integrated a QR code for two-way metro travel within digital IPL tickets. This is expected to significantly reduce queues and speed up entry at stations.

Spectators have been advised to use Cubbon Park and M.G. Road metro stations depending on their stadium entry points. Those entering via Cubbon Road should use Cubbon Park station, while those accessing through Link Road should opt for M.G. Road station, both located within walking distance of the venue.

To further reduce congestion in the Central Business District (CBD), additional parking has been arranged at 44 metro stations. A flat fee of ₹30 for two-wheelers and ₹60 for cars will be charged for the entire duration of metro operations on match day.

BMRCL has urged commuters to follow instructions from police, stadium authorities, and metro staff to ensure smooth crowd movement. It also noted that station entry may be regulated or temporarily closed if necessary in the interest of passenger safety.
