Bengaluru: Five-Year-Old Boy Allegedly Kicked by Passerby in Thyagarajanagar, CCTV Captures Incident

A shocking incident of child assault was reported from Bengaluru's Thyagarajanagar area, where a five-year-old boy was allegedly kicked by a man while playing near his grandmother's house. According to reports, the incident occurred on December 14 and was captured on a CCTV camera installed in the locality.

According to police, the incident took place on December 14 when the child, identified as Neiv Jain, was playing on the road with other children close to the residence. A complaint filed by the boy's mother, Deepika Jain, stated that a neighbouring resident, identified as Ranjan, suddenly approached the group and kicked the child without any provocation.

The child, identified as Neiv Jain, was playing with other children when a 35-year-old man, identified as Ranjan, allegedly approached him from behind and kicked him forcefully, causing the boy to fall to the ground. The CCTV footage shows the child lying or sitting on the road immediately after the assault, while the accused walks away from the spot.

Speaking to reporters, the child's mother, Deepika, said the man kicked her son "like a football" and claimed he had been assaulting other children in the area as well. "He ran up and kicked my child with his leg. He is just five years old. The man kicked him forcefully and assaulted him. We called the police and they arrested him. Later, when we checked the CCTV footage, we realised that he had assaulted other children too," she said, as quoted by India Today.

Deepika added that residents were unaware of the repeated assaults earlier. "For many days now, he has been assaulting several children in a similar manner. He comes onto the road and attacks them," she said. The child reportedly sustained injuries near his eyebrow and on his hands and legs.

Police said the accused has been arrested. Addressing the matter, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) said the offence was initially treated as non-cognisable, after which court permission was obtained to register the case. The accused was later sent for treatment following claims by his parents that he is suffering from psychological disorders and is undergoing treatment in Madurai.

The DCP also confirmed that police have recovered more CCTV videos allegedly showing the man assaulting other children, including girls. He added that additional cases will be registered if more victims or families come forward to file complaints.
